Though everyone has a different coping mechanism, I personally find that creativity is the perfect outlet. Journaling your emotions through video, writing, photography or anything is a great way to make yourself feel better.
It allows you to have a positive distraction while at the same time directly acknowledging your feelings and problems. Doing hobbies such as writing and photography, has changed my life. I struggle with a mental illness I would prefer not to name, which causes stages of anxiety and depression.
One day I picked up a pen, I didn't think about what I was writing, I just let my hand move and suddenly my emotions were splattered all over my paper.
Ever since, I have been happier, healthier, and I have grown a love for writing and almost all things creative. No, my strategies will not work for everyone, but I do encourage everyone to experiment. See what makes you happy and when you find it, your life will feel so much better. Trust me.
